Uttara Kannada District-Level Dasara sports meet to be held in Sirsi on September 6

Karwar: The annual district-level Dasara Sports Meet for Uttara Kannada district will be held on September 6 at the Shri Marikamba District Stadium in Sirsi, according to a notification from the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports.

Various sporting events will be conducted across different venues in Sirsi. Athletics, volleyball, kho-kho, kabaddi, ball badminton, hockey, throwball, handball, basketball, tennis, netball, and swimming competitions will be organized at the Shri Marikamba Stadium. Football matches will be hosted at the Sirsi Forestry College grounds, shuttle badminton and table tennis at the Yellapur Naka Forest Community Hall, and yoga competitions at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Bhavan on Yellapur Road. Wrestling events are scheduled to take place at the Haliyal Akhada.

Athletes who secured first or second place in individual events and first place in team events at the taluk-level tournaments will be eligible to participate at the district level. Winners at the district-level meet will then qualify for the divisional-level competitions.

Participation will be restricted to athletes from Uttara Kannada district only. Contestants are required to present valid identification and proof of residence, such as school/college ID, Aadhaar card, ration card, voter ID, or other government-issued identity cards. Players from other districts will not be allowed, and violators will face disciplinary action.

Participants must report to their respective venues by 9:00 a.m. on the day of the competition. Athletes affiliated with uniformed services are not eligible for entry. Competitors currently enrolled in academic institutions or employment must provide valid ID from the concerned institution. Carrying an Aadhaar card copy is mandatory.
