Illegal trafficking of cattles; 5 arrested, 3 vehicles seized

Yellapur: The Yellapur police have arrested five people on the charges of illegal trafficking of 18 cattles​ during a raid that was carried from Monday night to Tuesday morning on NH-63 near Yellapur. 

In a first case, a pickup vehicle carrying five cattles​ from Kalghatagi to Bhatkal was held nearby​ to Vishwa Darshana high school in Yellapur. The accused here is identified as Shrikanth Harijan of Kalghatagi. Sources said that It was being taken to the slaughterhouse in Bhatkal.

Secondly, another vehicle loaded with cattles was held near Hotel Kubera on NH-63, when it was moving from Ankola to Kalghatagi. The accused in this case are Ragvendra Narayan Nayak, a resident of Hoskeri in Ankola and Suresh Bomaya Naik, a resident of Shatgeri in Ankola.

In the third case, two cattles​ which were being taken from Ankola to Kalghatagi slaughterhouse were held near Maagod cross across national highway. The accused are traced as Bomaya Birayya Nayak and Prashant Devidas Naik, both residents of Ankola.

The total estimated value of vehicles in all three cases is said to be 6 lakh rupees and the cattle's value nearly 1.60 lakh rupees.
