ACB raid: Village accountant caught red-handed taking bribe in Bhatkal

Bhatkal: A village accountant was caught red-handed when he was taking bribe of 2000 rupees during a raid conducted by ACB sleuths here at Heble gram panchayat in the taluk on Wednesday, 28th November. He was taking the bribe for cancelling the name of deceased from the ration card.

The arrested has been identified as Annayya Lamani. 

It is said that an auto rickshaw driver Ganpathi Naik of Tenginagundi had applied for the cancellation of name from ration card, for which Annayya demanded a bribe of Rs 2,000. 

Ganpathi Naik has registered a complaint with ACB police in this regard. Based on the complaint registered by Ganpathi, the ACB sleuths taken into custody of Annayya, while he was taking bribe at Nemmandi Kendra in the town. Police have registered a case and investigating.

It is said that Annayya used to demand bribe from the villagers to do their works.
