Udupi: Vital organs of an accident victim were donated in Manipal, near here, on Monday, October 10.
A 17-year-old youth Himanshu was injured in an accident which took place at Mannapalla near Manipal on October 8th.The doctors at KMC hospital in Manipal declared him brain dead a few hours after the accident. His parents and family on Sunday October 9 decided to donate his vital organs.
It is said that his cornea and kidney were donated in Manipal, whereas, his heart and liver were sent to Bengaluru through green corridor till Mangaluru airport and then by flight.
It is said that Himanshu was the son of Dr Raviraj from Byndoor and had finished his second PUC in Udupi.
Dr Padmaraj was in charge of necessary procedure at the hospital.
Himanshu’s friend Harshith, the victim of same accident, had died on the spot.
