UDUPI: A woman, who was riding pillion in a two-wheeler, was killed on the spot after coming in collision with truck, which then run over her near Basrur on Thursday.

The victim is identified as 50-year-old Maimoona. 

Sources said that she had been to her parents’ house in Gulvadi village with her husband Haji Saheb, who was riding the vehicle.

The mishap took place when Haji Saheb, after offering the prayers at the mosque at Margoli, was returning to his house at Kodi in Kundapur, along with his wife, when the goods laden truck hit the scooter.

Maimoona was thrown into the middle of the road and came under the rear wheel of the truck killing her on the spot. Haji escaped with minor injuries.

A case was registered at Kundapur traffic police station.
