Ankola: ACB officials trapped a Grade-2 sub-inspector working with the Excise Department while she was receiving a bribe from a man accused in an illegal liquor transportation case, at her office recently.

Two persons had been arrested at the Harwad railway underbridge on NH 66 while they were illegally transporting Goan liquor on February 26. 

It is said that the officer trapped had demanded Rs 50,000 from Mustaq Hasan Beg, an accused, to hush up the case.

A complaint in this regard was lodged with the ACB police.

The ACB caught the officer while the accused was handing over Rs 20,000 bribe amount to her.

A team of six officers led by DySP Prakash is carrying out the investigation.
