Bhatkal: A tragic road accident at Tengingundi Cross on the National Highway 66 in Bhatkal claimed the life of a young scooter rider on the spot. The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Mohtisham (18), son of Anees Mohtisham.

According to reports, a plywood-laden lorry was on its way from Kerala to Mumbai when a scooter suddenly entered the National highway from Tengingundi Cross and came under the vehicle’s wheels. The accident occurred around midnight between Wednesday and Thursday.

Sources said that Mohammed Mohtisham, a resident of Firdous Nagar, was a student at Ali Public College, located in the same area.

Soon after the mishap, a large crowd gathered at the spot, and the body was shifted to the government hospital mortuary.

A case has been registered at the Bhatkal Town Police Station, and an investigation is underway.
