Karwar: Zilla panchayat President Jayashree Mogere said a delegation of ZP members will be taken to Bengaluru on September 15 to seek additional funds for the district development works from rural development and panchayat Raj minister HK Patil.
Chairing a General body meeting of Zilla Panchayat in Karwar on Tuesday, she said the district has received fewer funds this year from the government under 14th finance commissions plans.
She also said a proposal has been submitted to the government requesting construction of 149 more Anganwadi centres in the district. The State government has already given sanction for construction of 100 Anganwadi centres out of which 86 have been given funds.
DC Nakul S S said that land has been identified for construction of all SC/ST and BMC hostel in the district, while September 10 has been set as last date to identify land for hostels and instructed officials concerned to make sure that construction of these hostels are taken up at the earliest.
Meanwhile ZP member Pradeep Nayak raised the issue of transferring of additional teachers in the district which will have an adverse effect on the students’ education, he said.
Responding to this, deputy commissioner asked the DDPI of Karwar and Sirsi education district to make sure that all the government schools have atleast one English teacher. If not, then arrangements should be made to get a neighboring school teacher to conduct classes at least thrice a week or else hire a guest teacher for those schools.
Vice President Santosh Renake, standing committees presidents, members and officials were present in the meeting.
