10 soldiers killed, several injured after army vehicle plunges into gorge in J&K’s Doda

Srinagar: At least ten Indian Army personnel lost their lives and ten others sustained injuries after a military vehicle met with a fatal accident in the hilly terrain of Doda district on Thursday.

According to official sources, the incident occurred near Khanni Top on the Bhaderwah–Chamba interstate road when a bulletproof Casspir vehicle, deployed for an operational movement, lost control and skidded off the road before plunging into a deep gorge.

The injured soldiers were promptly evacuated from the accident site and airlifted to nearby hospitals, where they are undergoing treatment. Authorities said arrangements have been made to ensure the best possible medical care for those injured.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed deep grief over the loss of lives, calling the incident a tragic blow to the nation. He conveyed condolences to the families of the deceased soldiers and said senior officials had been instructed to closely monitor the treatment of the injured.

The Army’s White Knight Corps confirmed the casualties, stating that the vehicle was navigating difficult terrain amid adverse weather conditions when the accident occurred. The Corps added that rescue and evacuation operations were carried out swiftly despite challenging conditions.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also expressed their sorrow over the incident, paying tribute to the fallen soldiers for their service and sacrifice. Both leaders assured that the injured personnel are receiving comprehensive medical attention and reiterated the government’s support to the bereaved families.
