Bengaluru: The decomposed body of a 10-year-old girl, Ayesha was found some passerby behind a mosque in Magadi, a town in Ramanagaram district on 3rd March Friday.
Ayesha was the daughter of Mohammad Noorullah and Jamila Banu, who live near New Masjid and run a shop nearby. Ayesha was the youngest child in the home and studied in fourth standard at Winners School. The girl had a 16-year-old brother, who is now a SSLC student.
On Thursday 2nd March, she visited her parent’s shop to hand over the keys of their house and said she was going to a friend’s house. She was last spotted by some of her neighbors while she had come across some street dogs on her way. They shooed away the dogs and had cleared her way.
After returning home at around 10p.m her mother was surprised that her daughter had not yet returned. After looking for her all night, her worried parents approached the Magadi police, who took up a case of kidnap and began investigation.
On 3rd March Friday, a passerby found the lifeless body of a lying girl besides a blood-stained gunny bag on the side of the road and informed the police. The police who conducted verification realized that it belonged to the missing girl.
Investigators found a lemon cut in half, a lock of hair and her footwear. She was gagged with polythene, and her limbs were tied with cloth. She was wearing her brother Gulab’s shirt, with his school’s name 'Vasavi’ embroidered on it, a policeman said. There were telltale signs of puja procedures having been undertaken to appease some spirit near the body of the girl.
All of this pointed that the girl had been a victim of a sacrifice made to please some ghosts or spirits. The body was taken to a hospital at Bengaluru for postmortem. Ramanagara superintendent of police, B. Ramesh excluded confidence that the guilty will be arrested soon.
The miscreants had sacrificed her in a barbaric manner and then threw her away on the roadside. She was but only an ingredient required by them to meet their needs.
Investigation is going on by IGP Seemanth Kumar Singh and B. Ramesh and a case of murder has been registered.
