Bhatkal: The public bidding was undertaken before six months regarding the renting of municipality shops in Bhatkal. But the conspiracies hatched behind the stage during bidding made the old tenants loose the shops to others. With the demand to state government for taking immediate steps, a memorandum was presented to the chief minister through the assistant commissioner by the Karnataka Swabhimani Kranti Sangha of Bhatkal.
The memorandum states that a few of old renters had bid on high prices with the fear of losing their shops, but now the same renters are tensed as to how would they pay such a high amount to the municipality. This has put the renters into utter difficulty; they have taken the loans of lakhs of rupees being dependent on the same shops. Despite of the government-fixed rent of Rs 822 per square feet, the bid upto Rs 100800 has given rise to much confusion. Overall, the bidding of the municipality shops in such a manner was unscientific and the municipality officers were themselves responsible for it, it read. The memorandum has demanded the district administration to cancel the old bid and return the shops to the old renters after fixing a proper rent for the shops.
District president of Karnataka Swabhamani Sangha Ira Naik, general secretary Kumar Naik, Venkatesh Naik, Taluka president Ashok Naik, vice president KM Shareef, Jeevan Naik, Devindar Naik, rama Baliga and others were present during the occasion.
