BHATKAL: One accused has been arrested after a high drama, while police hunting for two othrers, after a minor girl alleged that three person including a principal of a private institue has been attempted rape on Wednesday.

The arrested accused has been identified as Nadeem Mulla (44) who was a lecturer in the same institute, but college principal Shakeel Mulla and a car driver has been escaped soon after getting the information that the girl has been lodging a complaint against them.

According to the FIR filed at the Bhatkal town police station, a fifteen-year-old girl from Byndoor was an external student at the National Public High School and wanted to appear for the SSLC examination this year.

The girl had to attend school every day from Byndoor, around 25km away for tuitions. On Thursday, the girl was offered a drop by the principal but once she was seated into the car, the trio (Shakeel Mulla, Nadeem Mulla and the driver) took the car to the Karikal forest area and then allegedly molested the girl.

It is said that when the girl started to cry for help, they panicked and then dropped her near Noor Masjid. Upon reaching home, she informed her family about the incident, who then lodged a police complaint against the trio.

When the police received information that Nadeem Mulla was at the school on Friday, a team was sent to detain him. But fearing arrest, he locked himself in a classroom. After a high drama from 11a.m to 5p.m the police, armed with the permission from magistrate barged into the school and arrested Nadeem Mulla.

Police informed that Nadeem Mulla has been presented to the Karwar session court under POCSO act on Saturday morning.
