Bhatkal: Demanding proper connectivity road to national highway from Jaktibail near Hanifabad cross, the residents of Hanifabad on Tuesday protested by stopping the ongoing works.
It is said that a divider is being constructed on highway from Venktapur ice factory to Tengingundi, due to which residents of Hanifabad and Heglu have been put in trouble to get connected from their localities to national highway.
They expressed their anger saying that locals have already been put in difficulties due to closure of connectivity from highway to Tengingundi, as there are 300 houses, Mosques, Temples, and schools in this area. Hence, the residents demanded that the construction of divider be stopped near Jaktibail to ease people move to their localities from highway.
On this occasion Heble Panchayat member Sayed Ali, Jali Pattan Panchayat member Aftab, Sayed Bilal, Jaleel and many others were present.
Responding to the protestors, an IRB official Mallikarjuna, said that he would bring it to the notice of senior IRB officials and steps would be initiated to overcome the problems.
The traffic was blocked for a while on the highway during the protest, after which police personnel from Bhatkal rural police station rushed to the spot and cleared the way.
