Bye-elections to the Nanjangud and Gundlupet assembly seats in Karnataka will be held on April 9, the Election Commission announced on Thursday.
The vote count will take place on April 13.
The bye-polls were necessitated due to the resignation of Congress MLA V. Srinivas Prasad from Nanjangud (Reserved) seat in December and the death of Cooperation Minister H.C. Mahadeva Prasad on January 3.

In a major setback to congress, party senior leader and two-time MLA from Bhatkal-Honnavar constituency, JD Naik joined the BJP in the presence of party State president B.S. Yeddyurappa at a programme held at the party’s State headquarters in Bengaluru.
Naik said, "We were let down by the Congress" and added that he was joining BJP "wholeheartedly".

AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi today demanded that NIA appeal against the acquittal of Swami Aseemanand and six other accused in the 2007 Ajmer blast case.
Yesterday, a special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court in Jaipur acquitted Aseemanand and six others giving them the "benefit of doubt".
"We demand that NIA should appeal against this judgment so that Assemanand can be punished.
