Counting of votes for UK constituency to be held at Kumta college on Tuesday; Results expected by noon

Karwar: The counting of votes for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 will take place on Tuesday, June 4, with results expected to start coming in by noon. The counting for the Uttara Kannada Lok Sabha Constituency will be conducted at AV Baliga College in Kumta, where all preparations have been completed.

Uttara Kannada has 13 candidates contesting, with a direct contest anticipated between the Congress and the BJP.

The elections in Uttara Kannada were held on May 7, recording a voter turnout of 76.53 percent. A total of 12,56,027 voters exercised their right to vote. Among them, 6,236 were door-to-door votes, which included 2,985 persons above 85 years of age, 1,924 persons with disabilities, 253 essential services employees, and 1,164 election duty staff.

Uttara Kannada Returning Officer and District Deputy Commissioner Gangubai Mankar stated that 562 officials have been appointed for the vote counting process, which will commence at 8 am on Tuesday. Full results are likely to be declared by 12 noon.

The vote counting will involve 23 rounds in Khanapur Assembly Constituency, 17 rounds in Kittur, 16 rounds in Haliyal, 19 rounds in Karwar, 16 rounds in Kumta, 18 rounds in Bhatkal, 19 rounds in Sirsi, and 17 rounds in Yellapur.

For security, 4 DySPs, 15 CPIs, 40 PSIs, 54 ASIs, 104 Head Constables, 170 Police Constables, 38 Women Constables, 5 District Armed Reserve Police, 2 KSRPs, and 1 troop of Central Armed Reserve Force have been deployed.
