Kumta: The two-day annual district level Tablighi Ijtema (Islamic congregation) began at Kadle ground, near Aghnashini road here at Kumta, today in the presence of a number of Islamic scholars from Karnataka and outside Karnataka.
Hundreds of Muslims including Islamic scholars and intellectuals drawn from across the district have attended for the two-day congregation, the biggest in Uttara Kannada.
The Ijtema began in the early morning with Fajr Salah, at which participants offered special prayers in the name of Allah for the well-being of the community, peace and harmony in the country and in the world.
During the Ijtema, sermons on life and practices of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), the teachings of Holy Quran and on the Islamic Shariat (Law) are being delivered by the Islamic Scholars.
Police have made special security arrangements for providing safety and security to the participants of the Ijtema.
