Dammam: The Bhatkal Muslim Jamath (Eastern Province) organized a two-day workshop to raise awareness about breast cancer among women. The first session was held on Friday at the residence of Maulana Sanaullah M.H. in Jubail after Isha prayers, while the second workshop took place on Saturday at the Seiko Building, Madrasa Taleem-ul-Quran, in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
Both workshops saw enthusiastic participation from female community members, who gained valuable insights from Dr. Helen Kannimel, a seasoned expert with 19 years of experience in the medical field. Dr. Helen Kannimel (MBBS, MD Anatomy) is the co-author of the book "Know Your Breast" and is passionate about conducting community awareness campaigns on preventive health. Providing information about breast cancer, Dr. Helen explained that it is a type of cancer that develops in the cells of the breast, often presenting as a lump or abnormal growth. She emphasized that preventive measures, such as regular self-examinations, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and timely medical screenings, can aid in early detection. Dr. Helen also detailed the early signs of breast cancer, preventive strategies, and modern treatment options available to combat the disease effectively.
Speaking on the occasion, the President of the Jamath, Javid Kola, and General Secretary Maulana Tanveer Ahmed Joshiddi highlighted the association’s commitment to organizing informative programs on health, education, and other critical issues. They commended the active participation of women and emphasized that such initiatives empower community members to address contemporary challenges effectively.
