Karwar: Furnitures, computer equipments, air conditioner, files and documents were gutted in a fire that broke out in the cheif executive office of the Uttara Kannada's Zilla Panchayat in Karwar on Wednesday morning. 

The source of fire is suspected to be a short circuit from the wire of an air-conditioner, which broke out with huge flames which later spread to  the entire office.

As soon as the information was received, the fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot  and were successful in putting out the fire. 

A case has been registered in Karwar town police station and further investigations are being carried on.
