Haveri: A tragic incident occurred in Haveri, where a boy was swept away in a drain and lost his life following heavy rains across the district last night. The incident took place in front of the Haveri SP office.

The deceased boy has been identified as 10-year-old Nivedan Basavaraj Gudgeri.

According to reports, due to the heavy rainfall, the boy went out in the morning to check the water on the road. Unfortunately, the road was not visible, and he accidentally fell into the drain and was swept away by the strong current.

As soon as the authorities were informed, fire brigade personnel and police rushed to the spot and began searching for the boy.

When the boy’s mother learned about the incident, she fell unconscious and was immediately taken to the district hospital by ambulance. The family was in deep distress, praying for the boy's survival, but fate had other plans.

The boy was found after a few hours and rushed to Haveri District Hospital. However, despite emergency treatment by the doctors, Nivedan could not be saved.

According to sources, widespread rains have lashed the city since last night, turning roads into lakes and causing major disruption to daily life.
