Bhatkal: Thousands of pilgrims visit the internationally famous Murdeshwar every day. A common complaint among them is the lack of basic infrastructure.

On one side, the area suffers from a lack of cleanliness, and on the other side, there is a shortage of toilets, despite the daily influx of thousands of tourists.

Many tourists arrive in buses from distant towns at Murdeshwar Bus Stand. However, finding a toilet immediately becomes a challenging task, as there is no easily accessible option nearby.

The bus stand does have a toilet, but it is consistently locked, causing severe embarrassment for tourists, especially women.

Even those traveling by cars face similar issues, finding no respite in terms of toilet facilities.

Tourists who come from far away to seek darshan of God face difficulties in finding toilets when needed, leading to frustration and dissatisfaction.

The bus stand was closed for four to five years, adding to its desolation. Though it has been restarted, the authorities must pay attention to cleanliness and provide toilet facilities for travelers arriving from distant places.

Considering the increasing number of tourists, the existing toilet may not suffice. Constructing more toilets at the bus station is necessary to accommodate the growing number of visitors.

The local administration should take more responsibility in providing essential facilities, including toilets, for the convenience of tourists visiting Murdeshwar.

District in-charge minister Mankal Vaidya has already promised to build a hi-tech bus station in Murdeshwar and provide more facilities to the people. Constructing more toilets at the bus station should be a priority to accommodate the needs of travelers coming from far away
