Sirsi: Due to ongoing bridge and road construction at Devimane Ghat, it has been decided to impose a complete ban on all vehicle movement along the Kumta-Sirsi National Highway from November 1st until the end of May.

In a meeting held on Wednesday, chaired by Sirsi Sub Divisional Assistant Commissioner Devaraj, and attended by representatives from the contracting company RNS and other relevant authorities, it was unanimously agreed that the highway should be closed to traffic for the duration of the bridge construction.

Following the meeting, AC Devaraj explained that both the contracting company RNS and the highway authority had jointly requested the closure of the highway to facilitate road work.

It has been reported that 27 kilometres of road work have already been completed out of the 33 kilometres on the Sirsi-Kumta Highway, which falls under the jurisdiction of Sirsi sub-division. However, the remaining work involves the construction of nine bridges, including both small and large ones, in addition to the work at Devimane Ghat.

AC Devraj clarified that this decision was made with the recognition that allowing vehicular traffic during the bridge construction would pose considerable challenges.

He has instructed the police department to place information boards on the roads leading to the Sirsi-Kumta highway, notifying the public of the road closure due to construction work.
