Karwar: A four year-old leopard got stuck on the fence of a paddy field at Shirkuli village in Ankola taluk on Friday night.

On being informed by villagers on Saturday morning, a team of forest officials of Ankola division rushed to the spot with net, cage and other equipments to rescue the trapped animal. With the help of a veterinary doctor, the animal was tranquillised. It was shifted to a cage and later released in the forest.

DFO Ganapati Naik, RFO Raghavendra Naik, ACP P K Pai, probationary IAS officer Fouziya Tarannum and others were present.
