Kumta: An unfortunate incident was reported near Honmav in Kumta on the morning of 19th November around 11:30am, when a tree cutter accidentally chopped his own body resulting in instant death of the victim.

The deceased has been identified as Jatti Hanumanth Patgar (65), a resident of Hanemat in Kumta. 

According to the sources, the deceased tree cutter accidentally turned his electric chainsaw across his body while chopping the tree, causing grievous injuries that led to draining huge amount of blood from his body. The victim sadly succumbed on the spot. The dead body of the person was seen hanging on a tree for sometime after the incident, which was later brought down with the help of locals present.
