Bhatkal: Dispute regarding the Measles and Rubella vaccines seem to have come to an end after a parents meeting was called at Shams english medium school which was attended by Bhatkal Tahsildar, the block education officer, the taluk executive officer and private doctors who convinced the parents about the importance of administering measles and rubella vaccines.
Earlier on Monday, Parents of students of Shams English medium school in Bhatkal tried to attack Health Department staff and school teachers, alleging that the Union government is administering measles and rubella vaccines to control the population of Muslim community, due to which the school management board held a meeting on Tuesday.
More than 80 parents participated in the meeting. While some of them opposed the vaccination drive, the doctors and the government officials explained the importance of vaccinating children and managed to convince the parents that it would not create any health problems.
All parents can get their children vaccinated without any fear. Those who have any doubts about the vaccine can skip the drive. Atlast, all parents were convinced in the meeting.
After the meeting, it is said that the drive is supposed to restart on Sunday.
Bhatkal Tahsildar V N Badkar, BEO Venktesh Patgar, Private Doctor Dr. Haneef Shabab, Taluka health officer Dr. Muttiraj, school management and teachers were present.
