Chandigarh - Kangana Ranaut, the newly-elected Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament from Mandi, was reportedly slapped by a female Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officer at Chandigarh airport on Thursday. The incident occurred while Ranaut was on her way to Delhi.
The altercation took place around 3 pm as Ranaut was preparing to board Vistara flight UK707 to Delhi. Sources indicate that CISF constable Kulwinder Kaur asked Ranaut to place her phone in the security tray, and upon her refusal, Kaur allegedly slapped the actor-turned-politician.
Upon reaching Delhi, Ranaut filed a complaint with CISF Director General Nina Singh. In a video shared on social media, Ranaut stated, “I was hit on the face, abused. I am safe but concerned about terrorism in Punjab.”
According to sources, Kaur was reportedly unhappy with Ranaut’s stance on the farmers' protest, which has been a contentious issue. In a video circulating on social media, Kaur can be heard mentioning that her mother was involved in the farmers' agitation, and she felt disrespected by Ranaut’s comments on the matter. The authenticity of the video has not been independently verified.
Following the incident, a CISF officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that an investigation has been launched. Kaur has been detained for questioning, and Punjab police officials were also present at the airport following the incident.
Anonymous sources from Ranaut’s team and airport authorities corroborated that Kaur’s dissatisfaction stemmed from Ranaut’s public remarks on the farmers’ protest.
Kangana Ranaut was recently elected to the Lok Sabha representing the Mandi constituency in Himachal Pradesh, where she won by a margin of over 74,000 votes against her nearest Congress rival.
