207 Driving licenses recommended for suspension in Mangaluru over traffic violations

MANGALURU: The Mangaluru Police in Karnataka's Dakshina Kannada district have recommended the suspension of 207 driving licenses in connection with traffic rule violations under the Motor Vehicle Act. These violations occurred between August 21 and September 3 within the jurisdiction of the Mangalore City Police Commissionerate.

Speaking with members of the media, Mangalore Police Commissioner Kuldeep Kumar R. Jain informed that there were 59 cases of speeding, rash and negligent driving, 8 cases of driving under the influence of alcohol, 34 cases of carrying passengers in goods vehicles, 4 cases of using mobile phones while driving, 4 cases of triple riding, 79 cases of riding without wearing a helmet, 6 cases of not wearing seat belts, and 13 cases of violating one-way traffic and no-entry rules.

Commissioner Kuldeep Kumar R. Jain also mentioned that in an effort to prevent accidents, 407 cases were registered for vehicles parked in prohibited areas, 45 cases against the use of shrill horns, 50 cases related to wearing tinted glass, and 174 cases against individuals who traveled on the footboard of buses.
