Bhatkal: Bhatkal and other regions of coastal Karnataka have been experiencing uninterrupted rainfall for the past four days, resulting in the disruption of normal life. The incessant rain has caused roads to become muddy, making it challenging for people to commute. In some areas, road excavation for underground drainage (UGD) works has further compounded the issue, as potholes are being filled with soil, rendering the roads impassable.
Residents are concerned about the safety of sending their children to school due to the hazardous road conditions. Meanwhile, the Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre has issued a warning that coastal Karnataka, including Bhatkal, Karwar, Udupi, and Mangalore, is expected to witness continuous and heavy rains for the next ten days. Low-lying areas are particularly at risk of flooding, urging residents to remain vigilant.
In preparation for any potential emergencies and to provide relief to affected individuals, the National Disaster Management Response Force and the State Disaster Response Force have been placed on high alert.
