Bhatkal: Fatal road accident within 12 hours of constructing a hump on National Highway

Bhatkal: A 30-year-old man, identified as Rupesh Govind Devadiga, a resident of Mundali, lost his life in a tragic road accident that occurred

within 12 hours of a hump being constructed on National Highway 66. The accident took place near the Shirali check post at around midnight on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.

Reports indicate that Rupesh was on his way home to Bhatkal from Murdeshwar on his bike. On encountering the newly constructed hump near the Shirali check post, he abruptly applied the brakes, lost control of his bike, and fell onto the highway. He sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to a government hospital for first aid. Later, he was referred to a hospital in Manipal in critical condition, but he succumbed to his injuries around 5:30 a.m.

A case has been registered at the Bhatkal Rural Police Station, and an investigation is currently underway.
