Bhatkal – Acting on a tip-off, the Food Inspector conducted a raid on an Omni vehicle allegedly involved in the illegal transportation of ration rice. The vehicle, which was heading towards the Flower Bazaar, was intercepted, and 15 bags of rice weighing a total of 520 kg were seized. The estimated value of the rice is ₹17,680.

The accused has been identified as Nazir Ahmed Yusuf Sheikh, a resident of Ganesh Nagar in Bhatkal Taluk, who is a scrap dealer by profession.

Food Inspector Shashidhar Bhimanna Honnalli has lodged a formal complaint regarding the incident at the Bhatkal Town Police Station.
