Bengaluru: Six people were killed when a container truck fell onto their car at Nelamangala on Saturday. The incident occurred near Talekere, on National Highway 4, connecting Tumkur to Bengaluru.

According to sources, the truck, carrying a large cargo container, overturned and landed directly on the car, killing all six passengers. Among the deceased were two men, two women, and two children, all of whom were traveling in the car. The collision caused a series of accidents involving two cars, two trucks, a school bus, and motorcycles.

The victims were originally from Morabagi village in Jath Taluka, Sangli District, Maharashtra, and had been residing in Vijayapura. They were traveling in their new luxury Volvo car for a weekend trip when the deadly crash occurred. The victims have been identified as Chandra Yagappa Goll (48), Gaurabai (42), Diksha (12), John (16), Vijayalakshmi (36), and Arya (6).

The crash resulted in a severe traffic jam on the Tumkur-Bengaluru highway, stretching nearly 10 kilometers, as vehicles were blocked by the wreckage.

Local police, led by Nelamangala Traffic Police and rural SP S.K. Baba, along with villagers, worked tirelessly to remove the bodies from the crushed car. It took three cranes to lift the heavy truck off the vehicle. After clearing the wreckage, the authorities restored smooth traffic flow on the highway.
