Bhatkal: Mrs. Sita Hebbar, the head teacher of Konara Primary School, addressed the persistence of gender discrimination stemming from Manusmriti at NSS Annual Camp of Anjuman College of Arts, Science, Commerce, and Postgraduate Center, which took place at Government Senior Primary School in Hadil village, Bhatkal taluk.

Despite constitutional freedoms and education, Hebbara lamented that societal views, reminiscent of ancient norms, continue to label men's actions as "work" and women's as "duty.", Sita said. The challenge faced by working women who must balance professional responsibilities with household chores, with even some older women perpetuating this perspective, she added.
