Bhatkal - In a tragic incident, two tourists lost their lives in a drowning accident at the popular Murdeshwar Beach in Bhatkal taluk on Monday morning. The victims have been identified as Manjunath Ramesh Hadpad (25) and Krishnappa Kariyappa (15), both hailing from different parts of Bagalkot district.

According to local authorities, Manjunath had arrived at Murdeshwar with a group of seven, while Krishnappa was part of a six-member team. The unfortunate incident occurred at 9:30 am when Manjunath drowned while swimming in the sea with his friends. Krishnappa's accident happened around 10:30 am.

With educational institutions on holiday, Murdeshwar has seen a surge in tourist numbers, and visitors from distant locations often plunge into the sea without full awareness of the water's depth and the presence of high waves.

The Murdeshwar police station has registered two separate cases in connection with these tragic incidents.
