Bhatkal: A Bhatkal youth succumbed to his injuries at Manipal Hospital at around 5 PM after being seriously injured in a road accident on the Uppani Honnavar road at around 1:30 PM on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Shazeeb, (23), son of Uppani Shabbar. He was on his way back to Bhatkal's Muhiddin Street in Madina Colony from Uppani by bike when his speeding bike collided with a car coming from the opposite direction.

Shazeeb, critically injured in the accident, was swiftly taken to Manipal Hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries in the hospital at around 5 PM. It has been reported that Shazeeb's cousin, who was on the rear seat of the bike, suffered minor injuries and is safe.

The deceased's body was brought to his mother's house at Bhatkal's Muhiddin Street around 7:45 PM for about half an hour for the last viewing by local relatives. Later, the body was shifted to Honnavar Government Hospital for post-mortem. Family members conveyed that after the post-mortem, the deceased's body will be taken to his father's house in Uppani, where the funeral will take place.
