Yellapur: The rear rider of a motorcycle lost his life when a car attempting to overtake a tanker collided with the bike. The accident occured on Thursday evening near Deshpande Nagar road cross on National Highway 63 in Yellapur taluk.

The victim, identified as Basha Sab Rustam Sab Mullanavar (40), was a laborer residing in Malkan Koppa, Kalaghatagi Taluk.

Sources reveal that Srinivas Patgar was driving the car from Kalaghatagi to Yellapur. While overtaking a tanker, his vehicle collided with a motorcycle approaching from the opposite direction. The impact of the accident caused severe head injuries to Basha Sab, who was riding on the back seat of the motorcycle, leading to his immediate demise.

A case has been filed against the car driver at the Yellapur police station.
