Mangaluru: The state government has announced the appointment of Dr. Boralingaiah M B as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the Western Range, which includes Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Chikkamagaluru districts. He is set to take over from the current IGP of Western Range, Amith Singh.

Dr. Boralingaiah, an officer of the 2008 batch of the Indian Police Service (IPS), previously held the position of IGP for the Southern Range in Mysuru.

In turn, Amith Singh, the outgoing IGP of Western Range, has been reassigned as the IGP of Southern Range.
