Bhatkal: As is the tradition every year, this year also on the 12th of Rabi ul-Awwal, falling on 28th September, the Muslim community will celebrate Eid Milad-ul-Nabi, marking the birth anniversary of the Prophet Mohammed (pbuh), with a grand procession. The central Eid Milad Committee announced this during a press conference at Gulmi Mosque, led by the committee's spokesperson, Munir Ahmed.
He emphasized that Eid Milad-ul-Nabi, observed on the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammed holds the same significance for the community as Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha. It is a sacred day that warrants a magnificent procession and various events to honor the Prophet's life. Elocution competitions and other programs highlighting the biography of Hazrat Mohammed are also being considered. Meetings are being held across different mosques to plan and organize these events.
According to the schedule, a grand procession will commence from Bhatkal Eidgah ground at 4 pm on September 28, proceeding through Shamsuddin Circle, National Highway to Sultan Street, Chowk Bazar, Mohammed Ali Road, Main Road and culminating at the public chabutra in front of the Old Bus Stand. An estimated eight to ten thousand people from various villages around Bhatkal taluk are expected to participate in this auspicious procession.
Maulana Abu Bakr Saqafi, Mohammed Rais Akrami, Abdul Aleem Gawai, Khawaja Hussain, Idris, Abdul Sattar Sheikh, Ismail Habibullah, Hazrat Ali and many others were present.
