Bengaluru: Overnight heavy rainfall has led to severe waterlogging across Bengaluru, resulting in significant traffic delays and disruptions this morning. The city’s streets have become inundated, with many areas reporting water levels reaching knee-height, causing widespread inconvenience for daily commuters.

Authorities have issued urgent advisories urging residents to avoid non-essential travel and exercise heightened caution while on the roads. Public transport services, including buses, are facing substantial delays and interruptions. The intense downpour has prompted widespread frustration among local residents, who have taken to social media to express their difficulties and call for improvements in urban infrastructure.

The Bengaluru Traffic Police have recommended that commuters seek alternative routes and avoid low-lying areas that are especially vulnerable to flooding. They are also actively involved in managing the situation, including efforts to clear waterlogged roads.

One social media user described the situation as “Manic Monday,” sharing an image of the traffic congestion. Another user humorously remarked on the long journey to work, highlighting the challenges faced by commuters, including issues with access to basic necessities like restrooms.

The Whitefield Traffic Police have issued a warning to drivers, advising them to be cautious and alert due to the adverse road conditions. They have also been actively involved in assisting with traffic management and road clearance, particularly in areas such as Varthur Katte Road and Varthur Lake Road.

As the city grapples with the impact of the storm, calls for improved drainage systems and better urban planning to handle such extreme weather events are becoming increasingly prominent.
