Bhatkal:  Upon receiving news of the Home Minister's visit, members of the Dalit Sangharsh Samiti staged a demonstration, bringing G. Parameshwar's convoy to a halt on the highway near Koteshwar Road, Bhatkal on Sunday.

The Dalit Sangharsh Samiti alleged the improper issuance of Scheduled Caste certificates to non-Dalits, highlighting the challenges faced by Scheduled Castes in accessing medical education and asserting that non-Scheduled individuals were unfairly benefiting from reserved quotas, prompting the group to call for district administration intervention to rectify these disparities and seek justice for their community.

Responding promptly to the situation, the Home Minister emerged from his car and, in a symbolic gesture, lit a lamp and paid respects to the portrait of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar installed on the side of the highway. Subsequently, he took charge of the situation by directing the Deputy Commissioner to conduct a thorough investigation into the grievances raised by the members of the Dalit Sangharsh Samiti.

District In-charge Minister Mankal Vaidya, MLC  Manjunath Bhandari, Deputy Commissioner Gangubai Maankar, Superintendent of Police Vishnuvardhana and  Various leaders of Dalit organizations were present.
