Karwar: Under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), an Employment Day was celebrated at the desilting site extending from Murkundi Temple to Hoskere Honnakote Temple in Hanehalli Gram Panchayat limits, Kumta Taluk.
Kiran Joteppanavar, the District IEC Coordinator of Zilla Panchayat, highlighted the scheme’s commitment to comprehensive rural development. He stated that MGNREGA aims to create local employment opportunities for rural laborers while building long-lasting assets to improve their livelihoods.
As part of the MGNREGA scheme, every registered family is entitled to 100 days of work annually at a daily wage of ₹349. Interested individuals can apply to the Gram Panchayat using Form 6 and secure employment within 15 days. The scheme also facilitates personal development works like cattle sheds, compost pits, and horticultural crop cultivation, thereby empowering rural families economically.
