Bhatkal: A tragic incident occurred on Saturday near the suspension bridge on National Highway 69 in Upponi, Honnavar taluk, where a 3-year-old child lost his life due to severe head injuries caused by the overturning of an auto-rickshaw. The accident was attributed to the driver's high speed and negligent driving.

Afreenaz Hakim Khan, a resident of Saralagi, was traveling from Upponi to Saralagi in an auto-rickshaw with her 3-year-old son, Abdul Rehman Hakim Khan. Near the suspension bridge, the auto overturned.

In this mishap, Abdul Rehman Hakim Khan (3 years and 3 months old) sustained severe head injuries and passed away before reaching the hospital.  The auto driver, Mohammed Sadiq Appal Khan, and the child’s mother, Afreenaz Hakim Khan, suffered minor injuries. The auto was completely damaged. 

A case has been registered against the auto driver at Honnavar Police Station
