Bhatkal: A 29-year-old woman, identified as Sheila Nagesh Devadiga, the mother of a seven-month-old child, committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling in her in-laws' house in Bengre, under the jurisdiction of the Murdeshwar police station in Bhatkal taluk on Saturday.

The incident occurred on Saturday morning while her mother-in-law was away at the market selling flowers, and her husband was also out for work.

Sheila had been married to Nagesh Devadiga of Bengre Mavinkatte for just a year and a half. The motive behind her suicide remains unknown.

A case has been filed at the Murdeshwar police station, and police are conducting an investigation into the incident.
