Bhatkal: M.R. Manvi, President of the Bhatkal Taluk Working Journalists' Association, emphasized that the media should function without prejudice and strive for the betterment of society.

Speaking at the NSS Annual Camp at Hadeel Primary School in Taluk, organized by Anjuman Degree College, Bhatkal, Manvi delivered a lecture on the "Role of Media in Maintaining Social Harmony."

Highlighting the crucial role of media in reflecting societal dynamics, Manvi stressed the importance of setting aside biases. He stated, "Maintaining harmony in society is paramount. For people of different religions, castes, languages, and cultures to coexist harmoniously, media must play a pivotal role. It serves as the mirror of society, creating awareness, summarizing, and criticizing to contribute to social harmony."

Expressing concern over the current state of media, Manvi cautioned against the dissemination of false information and distortion of history, which could lead to communal conflicts. He urged the media to prioritize objectivity and work towards fostering understanding in society.

Sridhar Shet from Kannada Sahitya Parishad, who lectured on Bhatkal's history during the program, emphasized the importance of understanding local history. He remarked, "While we study the histories of Russia and America, we often neglect the history of our own town. Those who do not delve into history cannot contribute to its creation."

The event was presided over by Prof. RS Nayak, the NSS Program Officer of Anjuman Degree College.

Qamaruddin, the Office Superintendent of Anjuman Degree College and Rama Gowda, a teacher at Hadeel Primary School, were also present on the stage.
