Bhatkal: A pedestrian crossing the Mankuli National Highway died on Saturday, July 15, after being hit by an ambulance on July 9.

The deceased has been identified as Jayanth Honappa Naik (39), a resident of Mankuli.

According to police, Naik was crossing the National Highway when a speeding ambulance traveling from Kundapur to Honnavar struck him. He sustained severe injuries and was immediately taken to the Bhatkal government hospital by local residents. However, due to the severity of his condition, he was subsequently referred to Mangalore Wenlock Hospital for further treatment. Unfortunately, Naik succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.

The incident occurred at around 11 a.m.

The Bhatkal town police station has registered a case in connection with the incident, and an investigation is underway.
