Bhatkal: In a joint operation, Bhatkal police and food inspectors conducted a raid near Mango Farm, within the Jali Pattan panchayat limits on Thursday. The operation resulted in the confiscation of 60 quintals (6000 kilograms) of rice. As a consequence, three individuals were detained by the authorities.

The raid was initiated based on a tip-off suggesting that the godown was illicitly stockpiling rice designated for distribution under the Anna Bhagya scheme. Acting swiftly on this information, officials took possession of the entire rice supply, which was subsequently transferred to a government-owned storage facility.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Bhatkal DySp K. Srikanth, led by Bhatkal Rural Police Inspector Gopi Chandan, and supervised by Food Inspector Pandu Naik, alongside other officials.

Police sources have disclosed that the investigation remains ongoing and that further actions will be pursued in accordance with the law."
