Honnavar: A memorandum seeking justice for the death of Mohammed Asif, who passed away during his treatment at the hospital, was submitted to the Tahsildar on Friday. The memorandum was addressed to the Government and Governor.

A multitude of people gathered at Sharavati Circle in the town to protest the unfortunate incident and demand accountability from Sridevi Hospital, the medical practitioners, and the medical establishment. The protesters, expressing their grievances, marched towards the Tehsildar office.

According to the demonstrators, Mohammed Ibrahim Asif, a young individual, was admitted to Sridevi Hospital due to stomach pain. He received medical attention from Dr. Bhargava Shetty and Dr. Kishanraj at the hospital. Tragically, Asif's health deteriorated, and he passed away before he could be transferred to Manipal Hospital. The protesters allege that inadequate treatment may have led to his demise. They suspect that his death might have occurred in Honnavar itself, prompting a call for a thorough investigation and appropriate legal measures.

The protesters are demanding the immediate cancellation of the hospital's license until a comprehensive investigation is conducted. They also insist on the arrest of the two doctors, accompanied by legal actions. Additionally, they are advocating for just compensation to be provided to the deceased's family.

Tehsildar Raviraj Dixit received the memorandum, which was intended for the Governor, Chief Minister, Home Minister, Minister of Health, and the District In-charge Minister. Copies of the memorandum were also submitted to the District Collector and District Health Officer through the Tahsildar.

The event saw the presence of various dignitaries and community leaders, including SDPI District President Mohammed Taufiq Beary, Kurwa Gram Panchayat Member Ibrahim Saab, Honnavar Muslim Tanzeem President Mohammad Ali Ibrahim Saab, and representatives from different organizations. Adequate security was provided by DySP Srikant, CPI Timmappa Naik, PSI Mahanthesh Naik, Sampath Kumar, and several other police personnel.
