Revenue Minister Visits Flooded Areas of Uttara Kannada; Provides 5 Lakh Compensation to Victims' Families

Karwar: Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda visited the coastal areas affected by floods and conducted an inspection in the Kumta taluk of Uttara Kannada district on Saturday.

Minister Krishna Byre Gowda gathered information from officials and victims regarding the extensive damage caused by the rainfall in Betkuli village. He expressed condolences to the families of Satish Naik and Ullas Gaudi, who tragically lost their lives two days ago after drowning in water-filled fields in Post Betkuli, Kumta taluk. The minister presented a cheque of Rs 5 lakh each to the bereaved families.

Later, in a meeting with revenue department officials, Minister Krishna Byre Gowda directed them to expedite the process of providing Rs 5 lakh compensation to the families of the deceased. He stressed the need for swift responses to the issues faced by the affected people and emphasized the importance of taking precautionary measures in flood-prone areas. He urged the officials to promptly respond to any emergency situations in the rain-affected regions of coastal Karnataka.

Addressing reporters, Minister Krishna Byre Gowda stated that a total of 21 people have lost their lives in the state so far due to heavy rainfall, and a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each has been announced for their families. The Karnataka government is actively working to provide immediate assistance to the victims. Additionally, four National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams and five State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams have been deployed and are prepared for relief work in the event of any further natural calamities, he added.

Uttara Kannada District Incharge Minister Mankal Vaidya, Kumta MLA Dinkar Shetty, Deputy Commissioner Prabhuling Kavalikatti, and many other officials were present.
