Mangaluru: A young woman walking on the side of the road was struck by a car on Thursday near BC road. The injured woman has been identified as Chaitra (22), a local resident who is recently engaged, with the wedding date already set.

Chaitra, employed in a private firm in Mangalore, had left work in the evening and was on her way home with her mother when the accident occurred. They were walking on the side of the road when a car, driving recklessly and at an excessive speed, collided with Chaitra.

Fortunately, the traffic police, en route to a program, were present at the scene and promptly transported the injured Chaitra to a private hospital in Mangalore using their vehicle.

Bantwal traffic police station had been registered a case.
