Bhatkal: A tragic incident unfolded on Tuesday morning as a car collided with a lorry on National Highway 66 near Mood Bhatkal Bypass Bridge, resulting in the death of a woman and injuries to two others.
The deceased has been identified as Rita D'Souza (51), who was traveling from Udupi to Goa along with her husband, Xavier Raj D'Souza, and their daughter, Inerka D'Souza. The family hails from Belur village in Udupi.
The collision left all three occupants of the car injured. Local residents acted promptly, rushing them to Bhatkal Government Hospital. Sadly, Rita succumbed to her injuries before reaching the hospital, while the other two suffered minor injuries.
The front part of the car sustained significant damage after colliding with the lorry.
A case has been registered at Bhatkal town police station.
