Ankola: One person was killed, and four others sustained injuries when an SUV they were traveling in collided with a tree. The fatal accident occurred on Thursday in Sarlebail NH 63, within the Agsoor Gram Panchayat limits in Ankola taluk.

The SUV was en route from Yellapur to Ankola when the driver attempted to avoid hitting a dog that crossed the road. This maneuver led to the driver losing control of the steering wheel, causing the car to veer off the road and collide with a tree.

The deceased has been identified as B. Rohit Yadav (32), originally from Thirumalgeri in Telangana state. The remaining four occupants of the Innova car suffered minor injuries, as per sources.

Upon receiving the information, Police Inspector Santosh Shetty, along with Highway Patrol Vehicle ASI Chandrakant Naik and other officials, swiftly reached the accident site to gather information.

The police have filed a case against the car driver and initiated an investigation into the incident.
