Udupi: A woman in Udupi lost Rs 1.47 lakh in an online fraud after she received a call from an unknown number offering her a part-time job.

The woman, who has not been named, was asked to download the Telegram app and told that she could earn money by trading. She deposited money into the account of the fraudster in a phased manner between September 1 and 3.

The Udupi CEN police have registered a case under section 66D of the IT Act.
